Computer Science basics

I know this focuses more on programming but I wanted to know if anyone had good resources about learning about computer science. Please let me know any resources if you do!

Intro to Porgramming? Go on Khan Academy. Plus Computer Science is so broad but you can start by learning one of many languages (C++,C#, Java) and many more. Depends on what you want to do. If you are going to school for computer science I would learn languages on my own and during summer because many schools fail at teaching it efficiently. Practice on being disciplined for math because the math courses are going to be tough.

Thanks, I have no experience with computer science and am not going to school for it. I am a social studies teacher and want to get certified to teach computer science where I basically have to pass a test. I ordered a study guide and am soon going to be looking at JavaScript thanks to Treehouse but was just wondering if anyone knew of any books or websites that broke things down simply.
