Conditional statement failing

What am i missing here it makes sense to me S:

if a greater than b then alert pops up saying a is greater else message a is not greater

ayyaaa confused

reading mdn docs i thought mines same s:

if (x > 5) { /* do the right thing / } else if (x > 50) { / do the right thing / } else { / do the right thing */ }

script.js
var a = 10;
var b = 20;
var c = 30;

if ( a > b ) {
  alert('a is greater than b');
  { else }
  alert('a is not greater than b');
  }

```script.js
I tried this also
if ( a > b ) {
  alert('a is greater than b');
  { else if ( a <= b ) }
  alert('a is not greater than b');
  }
```index.html
<!DOCTYPE HTML>
<html>
<head>
  <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">

Hi Bartlomiej!

It's a syntax error from your side: inspect the correct way here:

if ( a > b ) {

    alert('a is greater than b');

} else {

    alert('a is not greater than b');

}

Do you see what you did wrong?

It can be hard to understand in the beginning, but keep at it and you will eventually understand all of this! :)
