conditional statements (if) statement not registering in playground

Hello, for the conditional statment playground one I can't get the answer checker to accept the code below. Not sure what is incorrect with the syntax at this point. Do I need to use const?

var answer = prompt('What is the best programming language?') if (answer === 'JavaScript') { alert("You are correct") {

Assuming this isn't really all on a single line, the obvious issue is that the final brace needs to be the other kind:

ā€ƒ } :point_left: instead of :point_right: {

Also, you might want to get into the "best practice" habit of always putting a semicolon at the end of a statement.

You have two opening braces here:

You need a closing brace:
