confused with task 2

What am I doing wrong with this code? To me everything seems right but I keep getting a syntax error.

squaring.py 
def square(3):
    value = (3 * 3)
    return(value)
    result = (return)

Your solution has the right idea and form. The syntax error is cause by using the constant 3 as a parameter. It needs to a valid variable name starting with a non-numeric character.

The final line is not needed

    result = (return) # can be removed
