Hello I'm doing a website for a client, got a question about copyright terms here.
Is it "illegal" to do a straight up copy of a existing website with colors and layout to this website: http://stepstones-massage.nl/ but since that template is from Joomla and you have to buy it for 25 euro it's not their template. Like how do this process go? If we only change content but not colors etc from the template. Content will be changed but how is it with colors since this is a bought theme from JP Insurance can't we have the same colours? ¨
They are in the same industry and country so I'm starting to feel a bit nevous and confussed.
So is it copyright if we only have the exact same colors and layout but not content(images, text etc) say we only have lorum ipsum. Do you think I should skip this client and go on with another one? Dont feel like it's worth taking the risk?
Any suggestions

34 PointsIf that website is using a template, then you should be fine just buying the template and changing the colors and content to your client's desire. I'd be very careful using the same colors and layout, though – bit of a grey area for me. Any client that wants an exact copy of a website should be talked out of doing so. Pitch some of your own designs, and use the other website for inspiration, but never ever use copies. That comes off badly for the business and for you as a designer.
