Could not parse as expression: "@{'/gif/' + $(gif.name}}" (home:50)

How about change opening ( parentheses to {:

                <a th:href="@{'/gif/' + $(gif.name}}"> 
                <!-- to                 here -->
                <a th:href="@{'/gif/' + ${gif.name}}">

The way he has done is different, but it should work .
