Course Progress

I've recently discovered that my course progress isn't accurately represented in the course banner. In the "PHP Basics" course, for example, each badge is labeled as 'complete', but two courses in the progress bar are grayed out.

This is happening with a few of the courses I've completed---not just PHP Basics.

Is this a bug, or is this happening because I've skipped something?

Hi James,

Yep same thing's happened to me numerous times. I've also had problems with my points tallies since they migrated to another server back in October 2013. It shows on my profile that I have 19,306 points when in fact I actually have nearer 20,000 points. I contacted support about it late last year and a couple of times since, ... hopefully they'll manage to sort it one day !

You may want to send them a note about it (https://teamtreehouse.com/support) but I wouldn't worry too much as long as you are benefiting from the education that's the main thing.

I agree. I am certainly enjoying the education. However, it would be nice to know that the record-keeping was reliable (the way I see it, that's the MINIMUM requirement for a well-functioning site). It's odd that a few people have contacted support with no result. Besides server migration, I wonder if there is any specific action on the user's side that's causing this issue.

Yes, you would certainly expect that the records would be accurate especially due to the nature of the site, quite funny really !!

With regards to the greyed out bars and points that are achieved it is difficult to say as there is no reference on the site as to how this specifically works. One just assumes that you complete the lessons and tasks, get the points and achievement badges (which add to your totals) and then move on the the next course. Maybe it works differently to that.

I'll send a ticket to support pointing to this post to see if they can clarify things and lets see what happens.

Unfortunately, this is a known bug. Our designers and developers have been looking into for a good deal of time and it's been determined that there is not a simple solution. We do apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused anyone, but rest assured that we are aware and do have plans to address this.
