cpanel security

I am getting a security message when I login to the cpanel area. It says my connection is not private and that attackers may be trying to steal information from my site.

You are probably attempting to load the site over HTTP instead of HTTPS. If the server does not have a HTTPS certificate (or even if it's self-signed, but not saved to your browser) you will receive this error. Unless you have specifically set up HTTPS, you probably don't have it, as hosts (until just recently) charge more for it.

Hi John,

Thanks for your answer. I'am hosting with webhostingforstudents and I didn't buy any add on. I only registered the domain and bought the server. Is the connection still encrypted and I can't just see it? How do I save it to my browser?

Could you try the connection through HTTP? Delete the "s" in https://yourdomain.com/cpanel and see if it works.

The result is the same. I tried through firefox this time and it seems to be using port 2083.

https://rnrfloors.com:2083/

The procedure for doing this is connecting to the URL: http://rnrfloors.com:2083 .

Notice there is no error when connecting to the HTTP version of the site. It will however redirect you to https://srv502.webhostingforstudents.com:2083/, which is encrypted.

Okay this is probably because the cert is self signed. Since webhostingforstudents is a reseller for Siteground this is no surpise as thats what its always been like.
