Creating a website - Which way to go?

I'm working on a website for my Mother in law for her personal business. Her current website was created using wordpress. I'm still learning HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, but I know enough that I made her a really nice website. But I made her new site from scratch in Sublime Text (for learning purposes). Is there a way I can let her use that website and she can then update it easily if she needs too, or should I take the design and try to match it the best I can with wordpress? I don't really know wordpress yet, but I've watched a few videos on it. Any information would be really helpful!

Thanks, Mike

Hey Mike! I was in similar situation wondering whether I should use Wordpress or HTML for 2 projects I was working with and I believe it comes down to what the ultimate goal for the site is. Both methods are great, and have pros and cons in different areas. However, if having her update it is a high priority, I would use the method she feels most comfortable updating and editing.

I would agree with Darrell here, all depends on the purpose of the site.

If your Mother-in-law knows how to code in HTML, and there is not going to be very many updates, then she can probably use your new site. If not, then WordPress would be the better option. It is pretty simple to use to get a site up and running, the Treehouse videos on WordPress basics are pretty quick to go through.

Sorry if this is not the answer you wanted, but you did learn to make a site from scratch. Hold on to that code because it may come in handy in the future. :)

I recently completed two sites one Static ( Css. Html. Javascript) and one in wordpress both were for small business promoting there services. I found wordpress the way to go the reason was wordpress was more S.E.O friendly. It was alot quicker using a plug in and alot eaiser to rank the site.

Everybody has great points Michael!

The main thing is that you can NEVER have the optimum situations.

Most important is to just "Do it!" LOL. (Seriously, corny but true!)

As long as you keep learning, and get talented in other techniques, you can always improve and grow that first website for her later. Just make sure that your/her host has easy updating, and you can change it anytime.

It can't be the "most perfect website" at first. You can get a GOOD one for her now, and develop it for her over time.
