Does anyone know the target and context of which how he calculated the relative widths and margins in this video?

I have watched the responsive website project on how to convert px to % but i cannot find to fit where the numbers go in this formula. =/

Oh no, just from that video tutorial where he copy and pastes the relative widths and margins in the media queries, I don't know how he calculated them..
