Is it a good idea to use generated content as a means to insert things that can change like telephone numbers, addresses and e-mail addresses in a webpage? Are there any downsides to this approach?

39,199 PointsSemantic content should not be generated via CSS, that breaks the separation of content & style.
If they change that often and are in multiple places, you should use a server-side template like PHP to make it easy to update the information in one place and apply it to multiple pages.
