CSS HELP. I am having trouble with the float property. In my css code i cannot get the images to float side by side.

I added the list List item tag (li) and the images did are not floating side by side.

You just need to check your selectors... you have

#gallery {
  margin:0;
  padding:0;
  list-style: none;

}

#gallery{
  float: left;
  width: 45%;
  margin: 2.5%;
  background-color: #f5f5f5;
  color: #bdc3c7
}

Which both select the same thing. You need to change the second one

They aren't at all or like are they only floating for the first line, then it messes up?
