CSS CSS Layout Basics Page Layout with the Float Property Footer Layout with Floats

CSS layout basic floats code challenge 3 of 4

I have tried adding clearfix the html tag for footer-nav which didn't work. Then I tried adding clearfix to the container tag above footer-nav which also did not work. I tried playing with the clearfix class in the CSS and can't get anything to work. Can someone tell me where to look?

style.css
/* Complete the challenge by writing CSS below */

.footer-nav {
  float: left;
  }

.logo {
  float: right;
 }

.footer-nav li {
  float: left;
  }

.clearfix::after {
  content: "";
  display: table;
  clear: both;
}
index.html

Just inside the div with the "container" class (you can remove the clearfix from that one) you should see the footer element.

<footer class="class-goes-here">

Thanks, Ben.

The class should go directly on the footer element, not its container.

Hi Ben, I have tried doing this in the index.html file but that doesn't seem to work to prevent the float from collapsing the footer. <ul class="footer-nav clearfix">

Is that what you meant?
