CSS Menu bar trouble in blogger

Hello, I am trying to edit some CSS in the Labels widget (blogger), which I use as a menu/navigation bar instead of the pages gadget. The appearence is just fine, and mouse-over appearence too, but when its selected (any particular label) it looks like plain text alligned to the upper left corner of the button instead of being like the mouse-overing the button. Any piece of code that I could use to fix this? Thanks in advance.
