Custom Post Types in Free Foundation Theme

I've added custom post types to the Joints WP theme using the plugin and query methods from the Wordpress theme course. Also per the developer I duplicated the loop-single.php and loop-archive.php and renamed them "loop-single-news-posts.php" and "loop-archive-news-posts.php". However, when I add categories to the custom post types, I get the the dreaded "404" page when I click on the category links. Blog categories are working correctly. Can anyone help explain what's going wrong and how I can fix it? View site (home page posts are custom post type "news-posts"): http://divamediadesign.com/fcs/
