Customizing top bar in Foundation

Hi, I finished watching Framework basics and I have been desperately trying to customize Foundations Top Bar to remove the black background color. I have just set all my classes to background: none; but it doesn't work. I try with the developer tools and I can remove it from there but not on my own custom stylesheet. Can anyone give me a clue to why this is? Thank you.
