Database

Hi Im new to python and would like to create a time series database using python to fill it and append it from csv files. What is the best database platform to use that is free and connects easily with python and excel as a front end. Thanks Ed

Hi Edward,

Python connects to almost all kinds of databases, you can use mysql which is free. You are probably going to want to save out the excel file as a csv and then read that in and write to a database using python. Python has neat csv module.

PostgreSQL is another good option. SQLite is also good if you want an embedded database that could easily be moved to other machines. The python ORM videos are done using SQLite.
