Days on Earth Calculator: Where do I start?

I am new to app development, and want to make a simple app that calculates the amount of days you have lived on Earth, given a date input. This seems like it should be straightforward, but I am having a lot of trouble figuring out how I can input the date (whether via DatePicker or as a String input). Can someone point me in the right direction?
