Debugger only runs for a few seconds

Whenever I run the Debugger it runs for a few seconds, I can glimpse the step over buttons, and then it shuts.

I get these two messages in the debug console in rapid succession

Connected to the target VM, address: 'localhost:8602', transport: 'socket' Disconnected from the target VM, address: 'localhost:8602', transport: 'socket'

Could someone suggest a reason why this is happening?
