def function wrong syntax

Can anyone just write me an answer to this challenge because I am out of my wits with these "simple" challenges. I would omit challenges but my perfectionist attitude won't let me to do so. Thank you!

You almost had it. You need to write a parameter, in this case: number to use as a placeholder. And a little indentation fix and you're good to go!

def even_odd(number):
  if number % 2 = 0:
      return True
  else:
      return False
