Designing for Drupal

Hi all, I guess there aren't any Drupal courses on Treehouse as yet so hence why I want to start this conversation. I am a rookie web designer and I am designing pages to be developed in Drupal. The developer at my work is saying all sorts of things I don't understand so my guess is that I don't know how Drupal works. Anyone know wheres a good place for some Drupal advice for designers? Any help would be appreciated :)

If you want to learn to design for Drupal, I would suggest learning the basics on how to use Drupal.

here's a link to get you started: http://leveluptuts.com/tutorials/drupal-tutorials

Level Up is pretty solid. Also, Lynda has a couple of Drupal courses, including one entirely on creating a theme. Sadly, good Drupal info is scattered throughout the internet, so you may need to do some searching. In my opinion, installing it on your computer and playing around with it, will give you your best experience and get you moving the fastest towards creating themes.

I can always help you, too. I love Drupal, and it's always my CMS of choice. Good luck!

Thanks for that Colby ;) I appreciate your quick response! Will have a detailed look! Its so hard to inject creativity into it at the moment because I don't know what is and isn't possible with Drupal and can only depend on developers to tell me what to do at the moment - where as it should be the other way around...:)

Hey, sorry this is a bit late. But https://drupalize.me/ is a website dedicated to teaching the CMS. It's a bit pricey as they have almost no competition at $45 but do it for a month or two and get your fill and leave. It's what I did.

I am a Rails developer at heart, but am forced into using Drupal at work. I find this site to be really informative. They have a similar approach to treehouse in that everything is broken down into digestible chunks and they understand how to ease you into a learning curve. There's a TON of videos, too. Everything you'd need to know about Drupal.

I could complain all day about having to use Drupal, but i'm really just fortuitous that I'm no longer being forced to build sites in Joomla! ;P

Good luck!
