Developer vs Programmer

What is the difference between a web developer and a programmer? I am considering following some systematic program design(programming) courses, but I am not sure if that is relevant if you pursue a career as web developer... Any thoughts? J,

Programmer/Developer are essentially the same thing. Designer and Developer are different. Designers use HTML, CSS, JavaScript and programs like Photoshop. Developers use a server-side language like PHP/Ruby and databases. I recommend going through the Career Foundations course in the Business section of this website for more details.

I'm not sure how much a systematic program design course would help you in becoming a web developer. Many computer science students say they learn more about web design/development here at Treehouse than at college.
