Difference between targeting and DOM traversal?

Ello'

I can't seem to get the difference between these two concepts? Can anyone bring me some input?

Thank you.

One way to think of it is you are traversing the DOM relative to what you've targeted. If you then use your target as the starting point, you can than figure out where you need to go and what commands will get you there - .appendChild(); etc... Hope this helps.
