Difference between .text and .setTitle ?

What is the difference between the methods .text and .setTitle on button?

How I understood it is that the .setTitle method accepts two parameters, with the main differentiator being you can choose which state the string of the button will change at. So I'm inferring that .text is used for labels (where button state is not applicable) and .setTitle is for buttons.
