Courses Plus Student 211 PointsDifferene between pro and techdegree?
I have been researching and was going to try to figure out if I should do the tech degree or not for full stack javascript. But it seems to be the same exact courses that you can get in pro AND I realize it adds projects but really you can build 12 projects on ur own. so the only difference is peer reviews? I am not sure peer reviews are worth 200 a month seeing as how some could not be as good, not understand and rate or review something badly or even give you bad advice so that seems sketchy at the very least. So what is a reason for signing up for the tech degree? What great benefits do you get that requires an extra 150 dollars a month?

231,261 PointsI'm not a Techdegree subscriber, but if I understand correctly, the things I miss out on are:
- more structure and pacing
- peer project reviews
- access to exclusive Slack channel
- guided portfolio building
- optional personal mentoring
- proctored exam
- official certificate
Personally, I'm a highly self-motivated individual and I love the self-paced courses. But I also know that some people really appreciate having additional structure and paced learning and may prefer live chatting on the Slack channel for support vs. posting on the Community Forum.
But if you have any uncertainty about whether it's for you, why not use the free trial to experience it for yourself?
And to be clear, I have no connection with Treehouse other than being a well-satisfied long-time student.

Courses Plus Student 211 PointsMy only thing is peer review could be horrible I dont know how it works here but I have seen it in 2 other settings and it was bad, there was a LOT of bad advice given by people with less knowledge they thought it should be done different then the person doing it because they was not as advanced as that person yet. And my other things are exams show you have theoretical knowledge but not hands on. I am not dissing the tech degree just voicing concerns from someone who potentially wants to do it. I do not get why mentoring is optional either.

231,261 PointsI'm fuzzy on how the mentoring works myself .. I've heard that it's available but not standard. To get the real scoop, you might want to contact the Support folks directly.
