Do I have to refer a variable from R?

Getting down all the way to the R file seems a little unintuitive and complicated to my uneducated eyes. Is it a recommended and standard-compliant way to refer to the R file to point to a variable, or is it a practice actually done by developers for any other reason?

The R class is created during the build process. It contains the dynamic ID's for all resources. You use it to point to resources.
