Do paragraph tags need closing tags?

I've noticed there's no closing tag in the paragraph block. There's only a <p> tag but not </P>. I thought all tags need closing tags. Do I need to add a closing tag to a paragraph?

<p>I always including ending tags for p tags</p>

BUT it's not necessary for HTML where as it IS for XHTML. It's overall good practice and it could prevent potential bugs in the code because of not closing it.

Thank you Bryce!
