My friend recently joined what you would call an online school to get certified in programming. Even-though, I told him about teamtreehouse, he decided to join that other online school because of all the benefits they offer. This are some of the so called benefits: ( interview training, resume review, and other Career Support benefits with one on one support from coaches, and office hours and 1 on 1 appointments with the coaching staff) and they are charging him $199 a month. I honestly believe we get all that on here for a lot less. I guess my question does a certification make such a difference, if any at all?

12,481 PointsThats completly different depending on where you live or what you wanna do. In germany for example, certification is everything when you start out. In other countries i know of, they relate way more on your portfolio or your appearance on an interview.
I love the variety of courses they offer here for a really small price. For any web developer (even every human) it is a huge advantage to know also something about buisiness or design. For freelancers or entrepreneurs anyways.
