Do the link pseudo classes need to be declared in a certain order?

Does it matter what order the pseudo classes for links are listed? For example, is the proper syntax always a:link, a:visited, a:hover, a:focus in that order or does it not matter?

Yes, the last two (hover and focus) are at the end of the list so that they still override both visited and unvisited links. Plus it’s a solid habit especially when collaborating or working on a team.
