Do we have to still pass the description option when we validate description?

def create_todo_lists(options={}) options[:title] ||= "My todo list" options[:description] ||= "This is my todo list" end

I was reading on ||= operator , so my understanding here is if we do not pass any value to description option it will return "This is my todo list". So arent we repeating ourselves by still assigning a value to description? I just want to make sure.
