Do you have to have a developer account to run your app on your own iPhone?

Do you have to have a developer account to run your app on your own iPhone? Shouldn't there be some other way to test your app on you own iPhone then having to pay?

you have to have a developer account to test on an actual device that is not jailbroken. I believe if you jail break your phone there are ways to test on the device without paying the $99 for the developer program membership. But like I said you have to jail break it.
