Courses Plus Student 2,780 PointsDo you listen to music
when you're coding? Or not? I like the Tron:Legacy soundtrack for some reason, or classical, at times, too...

37,033 PointsYes. I tend to listen to top 100 when I'm coding (aka all those songs you hear over and over again on the radio on most major stations).

6,592 PointsI listen to recordings of Les Brown. Helps keep me motivated and in the can do mindset.

Katrina M
Courses Plus Student 2,780 PointsThat is a great idea!

Sam Lyon
4,402 PointsHootie and the Blowfish is my coding music of choice!

Katrina M
Courses Plus Student 2,780 PointsOoh!

27,709 PointsSoundtracks - music from games, film, television as well as classical or baroque music. Though sometimes, I just like to enjoy the silence, this is often instead to drown out the noise :)

Katrina M
Courses Plus Student 2,780 PointsI hear you.

Especially when I come home and I'm trying to study/focus. 2 kids and 4 dogs can prove to be distracting at times.

Katrina M
Courses Plus Student 2,780 PointsNice!

missgeekbunny
37,033 PointsI know how that can go. I have a 2 year old who can be very distracting when she feels she is in need of attention

Colin Marshall
32,861 PointsI use coffivity too! It does a great job of drowning out background noise, and doesn't distract me like music does.

Brian Wallace
3,011 PointsI like that coffee murmur!

3,683 PointsTron legacy great soundtrack! I beleive it is very underrated love daft punk btw.

Katrina M
Courses Plus Student 2,780 PointsMe too!

11,392 PointsI guess I'm in the minority. I prefer complete silence. However, sometimes I like to go to a Starbucks or Panera, the background noise isn't bothersome there for one reason or another.

Katrina M
Courses Plus Student 2,780 PointsI like SBUX and Panera!

4,293 PointsWhen I have complete silence I end up talking to myself. Late at night when I'm the last person in the office, I can't tell you how many conversations I've had with myself. The amount of things I've hashed out and explained vocally to an empty room.
I'm also very good at winning hypothetical arguments with other people by myself. It's probably in one of the top three spots of things I am good at.

Katrina M
Courses Plus Student 2,780 PointsInteresting! I wonder what "myself" thinks about this? Feel free to reply to "myself" or to this message.

4,293 PointsSometimes it helps to have someone to bounce ideas off of and get a fresh perspective from someone outside of the box. Even if that person happens to be yourself, or your dog, but not my dog because she signed an NDA.

Zac Mackey
11,392 PointsMichael, I do the same thing! My inner voice becomes my outer voice rather frequently when I'm alone. It helps me hash out issues as well, as if I'm discussing with two people. Kind of weird I suppose...

Katrina M
Courses Plus Student 2,780 PointsDefinitely!

missgeekbunny
37,033 PointsThat's me too. Though its part of why I really like music when I work. My inner voice can be very distracting if I'm not careful and music or something to half focus on helps that

12,216 PointsThe tron legacy soundtrack is good. In fact I listened to it so much that I'm now sick of it. haha. I have an 'Alesso' (if you like Daft Punk check him out) station on Pandora. Any electronic music is good because if there are words it's easy to ignore and just focus on the beat. I can't stand silence. Background noise from the TV is also acceptable.

Katrina M
Courses Plus Student 2,780 PointsThanks! I can't stand silence either.

37,033 PointsI actually find classical music distracting half the time when trying to focus. . . probably because I played the Viola for about 6 years growing up. And then the base for another 4.
