Treehouse Guest TeacherDo You Use Treehouse in School?
Hi Folks!
I'm curious if anyone uses Treehouse as a student or teacher in school?
- If so, I would love to hear your experience.
- If not, would you want to?
Thanks folks!

1,559 PointsI'm a college student, and by far, Treehouse is more useful, entertaining, fun, and motivational than any traditional class. So basically, Treehouse is my school.

26,869 PointsHi Zac I am not a teacher or student, but I am going to be using Treehouse to teach my daughter who is 9, she likes to play around with hex values and draw on the iPad. I set up a Wordpress site which I am in the middle of theming for her so she can upload her pictures or content and see instant results we collaborated together about content. we will be going through HTML and CSS in due course it is hard to pin her down as she is a busy busy girl!

42,016 Pointsthe treehouse content is much more practical than any college course ive taken (besides maybe data structures). But as far as programming classes go, treehouse exceeds any class ive taken.

15,645 PointsI wish Treehouse had been around while I was in school, could have been an afterschool club, something to do in break periods or used in lessons.

3,557 PointsI had thought about this before. I think there is some potential to have on-site Treehouse-based classes where a host would act as a mentor and course coordinator. For people that are completely new to the field, this would be a good way to get started with support and guidance. Perhaps Treehouse should consider offering some kind of reseller packages for such a situation.

12,860 PointsMy name in Dennis Skoko and I'm 18 years old and live in Sweden. Right now I'm in a senior high school called "Allvar Gullstrand". Here I study the history of HTML and CSS (also C++) and I thought that was boring, later on when we started to actual programme small websites I loved it and couldn't stop doing it. Problem was our teacher is really lazy and every time someone asks help from him, he says "Google is your friend".
So after a while I found Treehouse trough Youtube (google ads) and I have learned a lot more here than what I've learned from my school. Now it feels good because my friends tell me I'm a nerd because i know so much more than them, and they ask me for help often. Now in school, when my friends need help they always ask me. First test I had in school I had a "D" but now I've a "A", and I'm my teacher's favorite student.
After one and a half years, I want to continue in University either in USA or UK. But if it is not possible I will study in "Blekinge Institute of Technology". There I will study more about Javascript, Java, PHP, Python, C++ and how to use MySQL. I can't wait to go in University because what we have now in senior high school is just too easy and it feels like I'm wasting time.
Thanks Treehouse Regards, Dennis Skoko

15,399 PointsUnfortunately, I only heard about Treehouse after I had already graduated in 2012. Had I known about it any earlier I absolutely would have used it as it provides the hands on experience employers want that you just don't get during college. Being able to create a portfolio of work (whether it's code projects or design work) is almost more important in today's job market than a college degree. In this particular area, Treehouse can provide you with the opportunity to do that, most universities do not.

Courses Plus Student 5,754 PointsTo be honest if there would be ever be an opportunity to teach someone programming, I would pick Treehouse as the main tool for that. It would be hard to add to that knowledge. Maybe add some detail here and there, point out the possible pitfalls but not much.

4,456 PointsI'm currently a senior in high school, and I love using Treehouse in my free time after school when I'm not working. I feel like I'm learning so much more than any class has ever taught me these past four years.
