Does anyone else find Zac Gordon's unrelenting use of hand gestures really distracting?

I don't find it distracting. A bit entertaining, perhaps. Just imagine that he's freestyle rap battling another web developer.

I find it amusing, at least he's passionate about the subject. A monotone speaker is infinitely worse.

Never even noticed. I guess I was just too involved with what he was teaching. I find him very involved and extremely easy to listen to and follow along. He takes what could be a rather boring subject and makes it engaging. Thank-you Zac. :)

I feel like it is a little bit excessive.

I noticed right away. Hard to put something in a video/lecture format like that. In the future, I'd suggest editing out 80% of the video content of Zac and let him voice over what's going on with a screen of WordPress.

Laughed a bit when I saw this question. I have a slow internet connections, and thus I will have to pause to let it stream. Sometimes I might land myself with Zac's wired face expressions (sort of like a meme).

He is expressive which is good and when you see it from his perspective he is really really passionate about WordPress.

Speaking as a teacher and a student, expressive delivery is more effective than an anonymous drone, a lecture punctuated by "um" or similar, or a simple talking head. If you notice, these Treehouse instructors all have some expressive affectations. I don't watch myself teach, but I do move around a lot in a classroom.

Agree with Ary above. Not distracting at all. Instead, I think it demonstrate passion and the desire to pass on the knowledge in the best way possible. Love it :-)

It was a bit distracting at first, but I got used to it; he might be trying to achieve a format that a deaf person reading lips could watch?
