Does the atrr method retreive an attribute?

the jquery method attr('attributeName') will return an attribute value if the attr is the only argument. Read more on this here https://www.w3schools.com/jquery/html_attr.asp

You can also use the .getAttribute method of regular js. Read more on this here https://www.w3schools.com/jsref/met_element_getattribute.asp
