Does the SEO Title offered by Yoast need to be the same as your Page Title?

I was wondering if this would be considered best practice or whether there is a reason to keep the two titles different?

No it does not need to be the same. I would say keep the WordPress title basic like "Contact" or "About" for organizational purposes and then make the SEO title what you think is best for search engines to see.
