Don't completely understand Autowiring

Hi,

I was hoping for some clarification on Autowiring. I understand that it is used for Dependency Injection and allows you to not explicitly instantiate your Component. However, I don't understand exactly how does this work.

How does Spring automatically create an instance of the Component. In the example used the Component had no attributes and only the inherited default constructor. What if there were a constructor with some logic such as variable assignment - would it still be possible to Autowire this Component?
