don't know what to do

im not sure the right way to retrieve the value from numbers to add to sum

loops.swift 
let numbers = [2,8,1,16,4,3,9]
var sum = 0
var counter = 0

// Enter your code below

while counter < numbers.count {
counter += 1
numbers[counter] = newValue
sum = sum + newValue

Looks like you're over complicating it or the wording of the challenge is throwing you off, because you are accessing the values in the numbers array using the counter as the index correctly. However, you don't need to do anything with a newValue variable (you also didn't declare this anywhere so this would cause an error). You can just add numbers[counter] to the sum directly. Also, it is important to do this before you add one to the counter. If you add one to the counter first you will be skipping the first value, 2.
