Has anybody here had any experience building an e-commerce website? If so, what did you use and what was your experience using it like?
I'm about to build one and so any insight would be great!
Thanks!

11,679 PointsMy personal favorite so far has been Stripe. They have fairly good documentation in ruby, python, php, and node. There are of course other things to consider however when choosing a payment gateway, most notably their fees. Hopefully some others can chime in with experience with other options.

6,308 PointsYeah I definitely wanted to use Stripe over paypal. What language did you use? Also, I need to integrate a shopping-cart into the site. Have you had any experience with that?

11,679 PointsI've used Stripe pretty much exclusively with ruby on rails applications. While i have used a shopping cart with Stripe it was a custom-built solution which is most likely not the best option for nearly anyone.
For shopping carts I know a few people who have used Shopify though i can't provide any personal experience there.

6,308 PointsFair enough. I'm thinking of using ruby on rails... mainly because I want to learn it! Any thoughts on any of these ROR ecommerce-platforms?
