Hey this is a basic question. What do I use to edit basic html on my own?

All you need is a text editor. Something as simple as Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit (Mac) will do the job, but you are better off using something a little more powerful so that you get help with syntax highlighting. A couple of popular text editors are Notepad+ and Sublime Text, but there are several options.

Adobe Brackets is a pretty powerful editor, and it's free.
