General Discussion

eLearning platforms?

This is almost 2 different thoughts, but they are related, I promise!

  1. I may be getting a stab at doing some work for a school. I'm comfortable coding Wordpress themes, but does anyone know of any elearning platforms that are similar?

  2. Might treehouse do some sort of teacherisming on building on something like this in the future?

You may want to take a look at Moodle. https://moodle.org/

I used it once before I even knew how to code and figured out how to put some stuff together. It might serve your needs.

Thanks! I'll take a look and see what I can figure out there. Do you know if you can build themes for it similar to Wordpress?

You certainly can theme it. I do believe it's more rigid than wordpress as far as data construction goes, since it's really focused on education, but there is an API and it is as much of a CMS as wordpress is, just much more focused.

Here are the developer docs. Again, I used moodle about 14-16 months ago and at that time I didn't know CSS from HTML. I imagine it's pretty flexible though, and I do believe it is in PHP.

Thanks again Kevin! This gives me something to present as an option.
