using windows 8.1 downloaded the 64 bit version

1,960 PointsI totally agree with Rahsan, use genymotion, is easy to install and use, and is a lot faster than the eclipse built in emulator.
Check this link http://teamtreehouse.com/library/android-tools section: Getting Started with Genymotion where Ben explains step by step how to use it, i'ts really simple and useful.

2,067 Pointshonestly....download genymotion....it will save you a lot of pain. There is a plugin for eclipse and the instructions are very easy.
