Entrepreneur/Business/Career

Hello, So I'm 36, living in San Antonio,TX and currently trying to design a life where I can live in TX and NJ. I work as medical assistant for United Health Group(global company) but part time working in Direct Sales to produce income and eventually enough passive income to walk away from a 40 hr work week. I've been wanting to get into tech and learned of Treehouse from Bloomberg. I want to position myself with the education to perhaps work from home for a tech company, freelance, build apps etc.. I'm currently not able to buy a mac or ipad, so will hold off on starting the IOS swift track. My thinking is to start the web design track and go from there. There is a Tech Crunch conference this month in Austin that I'll be going to, and also have a scheduled tour of "We Work" incubator offices in Austin. I really want to plug myself into an ecosystem that I'm happy in and that's tech and Entrepreneurship(value creation) (disruption). Any suggestions on where to start? thanks

Dear True,

I believe the option for you would be to learn Web Design and Basic Website Development track in your track library. Then finish Start Your Business Track plus in business library finish Career Basics and How to freelance.

After finishing this, you will have enough information how to find work in tech industry. However there is little chance that you will get hired without a portfolio, so I suggest that after that you would move on to create a custom personal blog, where you will have to add few projects to your portfolio, create your bio and start blogging.

Also I would recommend that you register yourself on LinkedIn, Behance and Dribble.

Finally you can read some books on entrepreneurship such as Rework or The One Thing, this will get you pumped and motivated to pursue your dreams.
