Error - branch is currently checked out

When I try to push from the remote to the origin branch, I get an error.

! [remote rejected] new_feature -> new_feature (branch is currently checked out) error: failed to push some refs to '/learnGit/./my_really_cool_project'

This stackoverflow post seemed relevant, however I am still confused why this is occuring. Any thoughts? http://stackoverflow.com/questions/21112937/remote-rejected-master-master-branch-is-currently-checked-out-error-in
