it says that task 1 is no longer passing

The problem here is your syntax in your print().format(). The formatting needs to happen inside of the parentheses of the print function ~

print("{} is even".format(ran_num))

not

print("{} is even").format(ran_num)

Other than that it works perfectly! Happy coding :)
