expected declaration error in a struct

I am trying to query from Parse inside a struct, but I am getting an "expected declaration error." Does anyone know why?

struct TraditionsModel {

    var query: PFQuery
    query = PFQuery(className: "Tradition")
    query.orderByAscending("objectId")   <!--- error occurs here
    query.findObjectsInBackgroundWithBlock { (objects, error) -> Void in
    }

etc etc etc
