Hi there, Derek Lam! The findViewById part is fine. However, that returns a view and not a Button. The last line in the instructions says to not forget to "cast" the view into a Buttton.

Right now you have:

exterminateButton = findViewById(R.id.button1);

But you would need:

exterminateButton = (Button)findViewById(R.id.button1); // cast the view into a button

Hope this helps! :sparkles:
