I spent today putting together the frame of my website. I have the nav menu completed but no actual content yet. I did my best to use unobtrusive javascript, and have tested with js disabled and the core functionality still works. Tested in chrome, firefox and ie10.

Please let me know anything you can think of for improvement. One thing I am thinking it the color theme, but I am some what color illiterate :/.

Thanks in advance.

I think that nav is pretty nice, but it does remind me of sites from 1999. The colors also seem very harsh and dark. I believe if you want to attract people to you as a developer, go for large and inviting colors :)

I put together a mock-up with top navigation, better?

Ok, I'm liking this a bit more. I would recommend looking at resources like https://kuler.adobe.com. The site provides some awesome colors schemes around it that can really help bring your site to a nice theme.

Your site currently feels very much like Minecraft. But I'm liking the direction you are going. Keep pushing forward and doing what you are doing.

Reiterate, reiterate, reiterate. Eventually you will find what you believe to be "perfect".

Good luck Justen!

I agree about the colors. It reminds me of an old nintendo game that I used to play as a kid (and by that I mean the original nintendo console). Your js is cool but the I am just not getting into the color scheme.

I agree, it is terrible. I am pretty design illiterate lol. Very much prefer coding, whether front end or back end.

I'd take a look at the color theory section on the become a web designer adventure. It may give you good color ideas and watching that whole section may help your design prowess overall.
