Field name of type String?

Why are we now referferring to variables within a class as Field. Eg create a field name of type String named color with the value red....

Why not create a VARIABLE of type string?

Is a variable the same as a field?

1 Answer

a String, Boolean, int, etc are all fields. a private field is (metaphor warning) field with a fence around it only accessible by that class a public field is an open field and can be accessed by all classes in that package (folder) it was using the group name instead of the specific variable name that all the variable types are in.
