Finding a local community

I'm new to programming. I've decided to pursue iOS development and as awesome as the resources are here on Treehouse as well as the several other sites, one thing I'm struggling with is finding other developers locally (meetups and such). I live in Colorado so it doesn't seem like we have the community here that exists elsewhere. Does anyone know of a good place to connect with local developers? Even if there isn't anything nearby I'd be open to initiating that community if anyone has recommendations on websites or other social networks to look into. Any input is much appreciated.

Also if there are any good places to find someone that can mentor students like myself or finding other students to really pair up with I would love to find them. I'm VERY new to this community of developers and have almost no knowledge of where to start.

Thanks!

I don't live in Colorado, but I've used meetup.com before to connect with developer groups in my local community.

Check to see if anyone has created a local developer group on Facebook. Also checkout Craigslist. There may be listings for meetups there too.

Thanks guys! Looks like there is a Meetup group! Much appreciated

Also: keep an eye out on the Treehouse blog. I'm going to have a post addressing this that'll show up very soon. :grinning:

Looking forward to it! I'll keep my eye out!
